2005 FUNDRAISER PERFORMERS
Bernadette Charles is a performance poet/writer/artist who has captivated audiences in Canada for the past decade. She is the author of the book "SLAVE SPIRIT SPEAKS" Producer of "THE CALL" (cassette) and "KABAKAJAH" (CD). Bernadette has been an avid political and cultural conscious community worker for many years. She has been a member of the Montreal “west Island Black Community association” since 1990, and its youth coordinator from 1993-1996. She has been a frequent guest on Montreal TV, Radio and news media over the years as well as special media appearances in Toronto. Her goal is, "To use her ambitions, vision and God given talents at every opportunity for the development and betterment of her community and the broader Caribbean Diaspora. Petra Greenidge (age 14) was born in Brooklyn, N.Y of Grenadian parentage (Peter & Pamela Greenidge). Petra is a beautiful Christian young lady who started to sing at a tender age. Many hearts have been blessed by her singing, she has performed at many concerts, school functions and various churches. One of her greatest achievement was the prestigious “Florida All State Musical Award,” Petra is also academically motivated. She attends PineView School for the gifted in Florida where she was voted best role model and received the President Bush award of excellence and was inducted into the national Junior Honor Society of America.
Calypso Al (Allan Russell) hails from the island of Barbados in the West Indies. Since his arrival in Georgia, Calypso Al has made several appearances on local radio and a television talk shows in Atlanta. He has also handled the leading role as an actor in a stage play called “Play Mas’” performed at the Rialto Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. |
