ABOUT GAA
A Touch of Spice cultural performing group from the Caribbean Island of Grenada, first started performing in the Atlanta area in 1997 when the group originally got together to perform for the Atlanta Caribbean Association presentation of Grenada. The members of A Touch of Spice are Grenadian nationals and their families. The group is comprised of 15 members representing the Tri islands of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. All of the members currently reside in the Metro Atlanta area. The one theme that reverberates within this group is the pride for their Grenadian culture, food and history. This group entertains you with Caribbean folk songs that we all grew up with. Captures the flavor of back home marketplace with an entertaining skit and relives their vibrant heritage of their cultural with the Big Drum dance and Belair. At most performances the group share with their audience some of the most mouth watering, scrumptious Grenadian cuisine and the various aromatic spices from the Isle of Spice. Since their first performance in 1997, A Touch of Spice has continued performing throughout the Metro Atlanta area. Some of their previous performances include Cherry Blossom Festival (Conyers, Ga.), Fulton County Arts Festival, the Atlanta Caribbean Association, and various Church and other Caribbean social and cultural functions. As of May 2004, A Touch of Spice-Grenada-Atlanta Association was incorporated in the state of Georgia. Our mission is to share our culture and resources to unify our Grenadian community in Atlanta and help to improve the lives of others in our native land. To continue with our Cultural group promoting Grenadian culture in the region, through folk songs, folk drama, and dance. To help provide food, medical, and school supplies to needy families here and in Grenada. To host an annual Grenada Summer Picnic in Atlanta . To be an active association providing information on Caribbean food, music, art, dance, people, places and things. BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
